As an intern at WERC, I was given the opportunity to be part of a small but exceptional community of individuals working towards the betterment of women in Sri Lanka. My colleagues were friendly and always willing to help, and so it was easy to acquire new skills and learn more about the industry. During the month in which I interned here, I gained a much more nuanced view of gender issues, which was invaluable to my own research interest in economic development, as well as contributing toward a more informed social perspective in general.
