Strengthening the Platform of Women Leaders on Feminism and Transitional Justice


WERC in partnership with Mannar Women's Development Fund (MWDF) has undertaken to build a cohort of 25 young women trained and equipped to take the feminist agenda forward in their own contexts and as a collective group.

This project seeks to bring to the forefront, issues affecting women including Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), laws pertaining to Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act (MMDA) and other flaws in the personal laws that discriminate against women. It also seeks to address harmful cultural practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and the social ostracism of physically challenged women.

The ultimate outcome of the initiative is to create a space for dialogue on multiple truth telling and memorialization processes at community and individual level.
