The book reveals through detailed interviews that despite socio-cultural and economic differences, and in the face of inter caste conflicts there is a common theme of gender suffering that tragically permeates the lives of women. Forms of gender suffering which exists in different guises through along historical run in Tamil Nadu, exaceated by the historically continuing encroachment of Brahmanic values are successfully brought to light.
