Bernadeen Silva Memorial – Remembering Bernadeen (2009)

In memory of Ms. Bernadeen Silva, WERC decided to publish some of her cerebral essays on women’s movements and gender issues in the form of a book. Dr. Kumari Jayawardena, Prof. Jayadewa Uyangoda, Ms. Suriya Wickremasinghe, Dr. Selvy Thiruchandran, Ms. Jezima Ismail and Dr. Deepika Udagama rendered tributes on Ms. Bernadeen’s role in the many radical projects she engaged in, in Sri Lanka, while focusing on her pro-active and continuous activities in the civil society.

The second part of the book reproduced a selection of Ms. Bernadeen’s writings, reflecting the diversity of her concerns and the indefatigable tenacity with which she pursued them.

The book was launced on November, 09th 2009 at the Galle Face Hotel with the participation of civil society activists, religious persons, Ms. Bernadeen’s family and friends.
